Dr Lau specialises in diagnosis and treatment of throat, voice and swallowing disorders. He completed fellowship training in the field of laryngology (throat, voice and swallowing problems) at the University of British Columbia, Canada, from 1999 to 2000. Subsequently he directed the ENT Voice and Swallowing service at the Singapore General Hospital until 2012, when he left for private practice. He introduced injection laryngoplasty for vocal paralysis and scanning laser surgery of the vocal folds in Singapore. Dr Lau was a founding member of the Asian Pacific Laryngology Association and which brings together practitioners of laryngeal surgery in the Asia Pacific region. He is also an executive committee member of Performing Arts Medicine Singapore.

  • Diagnostic laryngeal electromyography (EMG)
  • Botulinum toxin injections for spasmodic voice disorders
  • Office-based injection augmentation for vocal fold paralysis
  • Office-based tracheo-esophageal puncture and prosthesis insertion for voice restoration after surgery for laryngeal cancer
